This week (Nov. 11-14, 2017) is the arrival of many business people from ASEAN for the ASEAN Business and Investment Summit. For the members of the ASEAN Women Entrepreneurs Network (AWEN), they will be meeting not just ASEAN counterparts but South Asian women entrepreneurs as well.
The ladies from FICCI-FLO (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce Inc- FICCI Ladies Organization) led by Vinita Bhimbet will be here with the Indian delegation. The forum of AWEN and FICCI-FLO was formalized last July in New Delhi, India with the ceremonial signing between AWEN Chair Pacita Juan and Vinita Bhimbet, witnessed by Foreign Minister Sushmi Suraj.
The South Asian Women Development Forum (SAWDF) led by Pramila Rijal will also come with their members from Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, Maldives, and Sri Lanka. The SAWDF and AWEN forged an alliance last September in Kathmandu, Nepal where AWEN Co-Chairs Chit Juan and Boots Garcia attended the women’s forum.
The UNESCAP supported the arrival of the delegates who will be here for business meetings and possible partnerships.
